PAT SHEA-HALSON SUPERVISOR

Professional Profile

My name is Pat Shea-Halson. I am a qualified Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Supervisor, with over 25 years experience. I work with Trainee Counsellors, Psychotherapists, and Counselling Psychologists. I run supervision groups and one to one supervison sessions.

A Safe Space To Reflect

As a Supervisor I offer you a warm, friendly, professional, supportive space to enable you to reflect upon your work with your clients and look at the ways in which you can develop personally and professionally as a Counsellor.

Developing A Working Alliance

I want to develop a professional relationship with you based on integrity, genuineness and sincerity. I will work with you to develop a trusting relationship which will enhance our working alliance. I have a passion for counselling and supervision and this is demonstrated within my work.

My Theoretical Approach

I work as an integrative therapist and supervisor. My theoretical orientation is humanistic, and I have been greatly influenced by the work of Carl Rogers. I firmly believe that the therapeutic alliance is the main ingredient of therapeutic change. I also use this belief as the fundamental basis for an effective working alliance, with the Supervisor and Supervisee. During supervision, I also use skills drawn form Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, Kelly’s Construct Theory, and Cognitive Behavioural Approaches within the supervisory framework.

I believe that Counselling Supervision is a contracted, professional relationship, that provides the Counsellor with numerous opportunites to reflect upon their work with their clients, in a safe, secure, welcoming, confidential environment. As a qualifed and experienced Supervisor, I provide emotional support, professional guidance, and the professional space to enhance and develop your thereputic understanding, and a Super VISION that helps you to monitor your work with your clients. As a trained and experienced Supervisor I draw on, and utilise a number of different models of supervision, including those developed by, Hawkins and Shohet, Holloway, Carroll, Clarkson, lnskip and Proctor, Heron, Zalcman, Page and Wosket. and others.

I want to work together with you, so that you can get the best you can from our supervison sessions. I will provide a climate in which you can feel safe, understood, acknowleged, accepted, supported, and assisted with your case work. I promise you, that I will provide a safe place for you to explore and express personal distress, transference or counter-transference that may be surfacing for you during your work with your clients. I want you to know, that I will ensure that you are supported and validated as a person, and well as a Counsellor. I will provide a regular supported, safe space, for you to reflect upon the content and process of your work with your clients, so that you can further develop your theorectial approach, for the enhancement and maintenance of good ethical standards of work with your clients.
